Governmental bodies continue to ask for more information about the ATC Cardinal Hickory high voltage transmission line scheduled to cut through the Wisconsin Driftless Area on its way across the Mississippi River at Dubuque, IA.  This article above appeared in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald on August 14, 2018.  ATC was at the Dubuque County Supervisors meeting insisting that this high speed transmission line built to carry 300 megawatts was good for solar and wind projects.  ATC also continues to insist it is also about a reliable grid.   Many residents and advocates for the Driftless Area have fought back saying that Wisconsin already has one of the most reliable grids (and expensive electricity) in the nation.  The company involved in the construction of the Montfort, WI. solar farm has stated in writing that they will use the existing grid not the proposed high voltage Cardinal Hickory Transmission line. One County Supervisor wanted to know how this new expensive transmission line would impact residents electrical bills.
